About Michael

Michael Chemello is a recently Canadian certified Athletic Therapist and previously American certified Athletic Trainer.

The Association was first introduced to Michael when he joined the OATA-organized certification exam prep program a few years ago.  He was bright, committed, enthusiastic, demonstrated clear leadership qualities among the candidate pool and on his own initiative started study groups within the pool. Having both certifications and experience certified and work experience in the States and here in Ontario, he brings that additional valuable perspective and experience to the Board.

Michael Chemello is a Certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Athletic therapist.  He maintains both professional certifications.  He is also a certified coach. He graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.

He was an Academic All-American athlete, and a Florida-Canada Linkage Award recipient. After his studies he pursued a minor professional career in the Southern Professional Hockey League and European (Germany) leagues. Since 2011, so for over a decade, he has worked as the Lead Athletic Therapist and Head Coach at the  Prostar Hockey School here in Toronto.

He is also Athletic Therapist & Team Coach for both the U13 AAA Hockey Vaughan Kings and U17 AA Hockey Vaughan Rangers.  He is digitally savvy and proficient in a range of digital communications tools and platforms.
